Jonas Hallgrimsson studied photography at Bournemouth and Poole College of Art & Design (1995-1996) and at Reading College of Art & Design (1996-1998).

In 2001 Jonas moved to Tokyo where he lived and worked for 5 years (2001-2006). While living in Japan, Jonas took on assignments for a number of Japanese and foreign magazines, as well as for companies like Sony and Warner.

Jonas relocated to Iceland in 2006 and has since then been working as a freelance photographer in Reykjavik, as well as a full time photographer for The National Museum of Iceland (2008-2012).

In 2008 Jonas began photographing fitness competitors in Iceland. The project became highly popular amongst the constantly growing fitness industry in Iceland. So far more than 250 competitors have participated in the project.

Jonas has exhibited his work Iceland, Japan and UK.
